Kreuzer Rupert Elias
Whilst based on traditional Gardena valley sculpture, Rupert Elias’ works take a leap in the direction of contemporary research. The artist is not content with representing reality but seeks to capture its hidden essence. In this sense, he puts in place a sort of deviation from normality, which is determined through disorientating elements that overlay the subject depicted: black patches, protuberances, ambiguous postures. The overall result expresses a kind of communicative irreverence that fits in well with the characteristics of post-human society at the dawn of the third millennium.
