Runggaldier Alfons

Fifth-generation sculptor Alfons Runggaldier lives in Ortisei where he devotes himself to sculpting mainly female figures using highly intriguing materials such as age-old roots of different types of wood. He also works with bronze. He carves his “Silent Women” on solid tree trunks on which tapered, deeply expressive women's faces appear with slender, elongated necks and contracted lips.
