Kostner Matthäus

Matthaeus Kostner´s photographic works are based on a process of overlaying images, which produces scenarios with a strong expressive value. The assemblage at first glance appears as a single flow of evanescent colours, but only after careful observation do we begin to discern the finer details. This process enables the artist to create works in which the beauty of the image is compounded by the concept of time and space. The photos take on the characteristics of real paintings, where the imagery is lost in a deep flow of iconographic references. Each elaboration contains a diverse set of images that determines the internal passage of time, generating ever-changing colour effects and an overall depth that would otherwise be impossible to achieve.
