Kostner Matthias

Wood comes to life in Matthias Kostner’s works, creating figures with an outstanding ability to portray. His is not simply an imitation of the real world, there is indeed something slightly unsettling about his work: the gestures, attitudes, actions. The people in his sculptures are real but they move in abnormal situations, as if suspended in a dream-like vagueness. A magical, alienating, delicate realism, in which his artistic sensitivity and unquestioned technical skill are perceived.
