Sieff Matthias

The first element to emerge from Matthias Sieff’s work is the iconographic model of the Val di Fassa, the area where he lives and works. A tradition renewed through an original and personal style. His figures are powerful, archaic and primitive, the incarnation of an ancient purity that takes us back in time. Even the faces take on singular characteristics, in their poses and features, sometimes disproportionate but always rich in humanity. The lines of the bodies are concise and minimal, as are the colours. Thus the beauty of a centuries-old culture and the purity of original artistic languages are recaptured.
